Sara + Jean
COROMANDEL WEDDING | NEW ZEALAND
This Coromandel marquee wedding was a really special one. After skyping Sara and Jean while they were hiding in a Colombian hostel pantry in the early ours of the morning, I knew hit a jackpot.
From the moment I stepped into their company they felt like old friends. The conversation flowed and they looked after me like I was family. From booking my beautiful bach, filling up my fridge with food and seating me with the guests at the wedding, it was kindness on another level. And because I felt so connected when I look at these images, I know I’ve captured the essence of their lives, which wouldn't have been possible had the connection not been there.
Sara and Jean married on Sara’s aunties front lawn overlooking the beach. After the ceremony was over guests strolled down the road to the clear marquee that was styled and decorated by the legendsTwo Fox's and Sophie from Muck Floral. These guys did such an incredible job and were such a dream to work with.
Thankfully the rain held off until the reception when Sara and Jean made one of the best entrances I’ve seen. Couple that with guests randomly chosen to sing a song and a mc that had a wit to die for. Boxes for a good night ticked!
After the formalities they shoved the tables aside to make room for a dance floor. A conga lined started and shit got real. After 15 hours of shooting I dragged my broken body back to my bach but it was worth every ache. This wedding will always stay close to me because I wasn't just the button pusher, I was a part of it.
